IBUSXP – Masterclass and certification for the experienced IUS performer – Zurich, Switzerland – January 21st-22nd, 2027
Workshop description
The International Bowel Ultrasound Group e.V. is planning the 6th IBUSXP – Masterclass and certification for the experienced IUS performer in Zurich, Switzerland, under the medical lead of Professors Stephan Vavricka, Gerhard Rogler, and Luc Biedermann. This course is organized in collaboration with Gastroenterology Foundation Zurich (GFZ), IBDnet and University Hospital Zurich (USZ).
The primary aim of this workshop is to establish standardized, high-quality techniques for performing IUS examination among physicians with a minimum of 300 performed procedures over the last 3 years.
The workshop consists of 2 parts:
- Theoretical and didactic training: participants will engage in an interactive, self-directed eLearning course via IBUS
- Practical training: the hands-on experience component will be facilitated through an introductory face-to-face course involving sessions with patients
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will undergo theoretical and practical exams. Those who successfully pass the course will receive an IBUS Level 1 Certificate (no further Module 2 or 3 required).
Application process
The application process is divided into the following 3 steps:
1. Submission of application: Fully completed applications must be submitted by Thursday, October 22nd, 2026. Applicants must submit their CV and Letter of Recommendation from their Head of Department and confirm their commitment to completing the mandatory eLearning component of the IBUSXP Workshop before attending the hands-on part (more information on the content and cost can be found here.)
2. Review and selection: Applications will be reviewed and participants selected by late October.
3. Workshop registration: The selected applicants will receive an invoice for the Workshop participation fee (CHF 850) and the eLearning course fee (CHF 240) from GFZ. Registration to the workshop will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
Fees & practical information
The fees are:
- IBUS eLearning Introduction course : CHF 240
- Hands-on workshop: CHF 850
The workshop fee includes participation in the lectures and hands-on practical sessions as per the program. Travel and accommodation are not included.
Please note that the workshop will be held in English.
Eligibility Criteria and Selection
Applicants must:
- have access to an ultrasound machine
- have performed at least 300 IUS procedures within the last 3 years
- be an active IBUS member at the time of selection. For further information on how to become an IBUS member, please visit our website here.
Priority will be given to applications from gastroenterologists based in Switzerland.
Applications with equal qualifications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis. Only fully completed applications will be taken into consideration.
