Workshop description

The International Bowel Ultrasound Group e.V. is offering a new workshop format in Paris, France, under the medical lead of Dr. Paul McLellan from St Antoine hospital, Paris, and Dr. Sophie Restellini from la Tour Hospital, Geneva. This course is organized in collaboration with L’Association Française d’Ultrasonographie Intestinale dans les MICI (AFUSIM).

This workshop format includes two courses, aimed at two different participant groups:

1. IBUS Hybrid Module 1 Workshop for beginners who would like to take the first step in the journey of  learning more about intestinal ultrasound in IBD. Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to continue the IBUS curriculum and may apply for the Module 2 Hands-On Training.

2. IBUSXP – Masterclass and certification for the experienced IUS performer. The primary aim of this workshop is to establish standardized, high-quality techniques for performing IUS examination among physicians with minimum 300 performed procedures over the last 3 years. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will undergo theoretical and practical exams. Those who successfully pass the course will receive the full IBUS Certificate (no further Module 2 or 3 required).

Both workshops consists of 2 parts:

  • Theoretical and didactic training: participants will engage in an interactive, self-directed eLearning course via IBUS
  • Practical training: the hands-on experience component will be facilitated through an introductory face-to-face course involving sessions with patients
