IBUS Module 1 Workshop, Panama City, Panama – August 18 – 19, 2026
Workshop description
The 24th IBUS Module 1 Workshop will take place from Tuesday, August 18th to Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 in Panama City, Panama.
This IBUS workshop, which is the 1st module of the IBUS Curriculum, has been developed by a group of international experts in IBD and intestinal ultrasound (IUS), involving presentations, videos, and hands-on sessions. You will learn about the basics of intestinal ultrasound (IUS) and the role of IUS in diagnosis, follow-up of treatment, and complications in IBD.
The workshop will be organized under the medical lead of Dr Carlos Rettally from Pacifica Salud - Hospital Punta Pacifica and Dr Kenneth Ernest-Suarez from Zeidler Ledcor Centre, University of Alberta and in collaboration with PANCCO – Pan American Crohn´s and Colitis Organisation.
Application process
The application process is divided into the following 3 steps:
1. Submission of application: To be taken into consideration for the application process, fully completed applications must be submitted by April 30th, 2026. Applicants must submit, together with their CV, a Letter of Recommendation from their Head of Department.
2. Review and selection: The Workshop Steering Committee will review all applications and select the potential workshop participants by mid May 2026.
3. Workshop registration: the selected applicants will receive an invoice for the participation fee (600,00 USD + 19% VAT). Registration to the workshop will be confirmed upon receipt of payment by the IBUS Group.

The workshop participation fee is 600,00 USD + 19% VAT and includes participation to the lectures and hands-on practical sessions on August 18th - 19th, 2026.
Important information:
Limited places available; applications from Latin American countries will be given priority.
Applications with equal qualifications will be evaluated on a first come first served basis. Only fully completed applications will be taken into consideration.
It is a mandatory requirement to have access to an ultrasound machine in order to apply for this workshop.
During this workshop, participants will attend expert-led lectures on bowel ultrasound and take part in small group hands-on training with real patients.
