IBUS Hybrid Module 1 Workshop Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – October 2nd – 3rd, 2026

The 19th IBUS Hybrid Module 1 Workshop will take place on October 2nd - 3rd, 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This IBUS workshop has been developed by a group of international experts in IBD and intestinal ultrasound (IUS). Participants will learn about the basics of intestinal ultrasound (IUS) and the role of IUS in diagnosis, follow-up of treatment, and complications in IBD.
The workshop consists in 2 parts:
- Theoretical and didactic training: participants will engage in an interactive, self-directed eLearning course via IBUS
- Practical training: the hands-on experience component will be facilitated through an introductory face-to-face course involving sessions with patients
The workshop will be organized under the medical lead of Prof. Ida Normiha Binti Hilmi (University of Malaya Medical Centre) and in collaboration with he Malaysian Society for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the Asian Organization for Crohn’s & Colitis, and the Asian Education Network for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
The application process is divided into the following 3 steps:
1. Submission of application: To be taken into consideration for the application process, fully completed applications must be submitted by June 18th. Applicants must submit together with their CV a Letter of Recommendation from their Head of Department.
During the application process applicants will be prompted to confirm their commitment to completing the eLearning component of Module 1 before attending the face-to-face workshop (please note this is a mandatory prerequisite to attend the workshop - more information on the content can be found here.)
2. Review and selection: The Workshop Steering Committee will review all applications and select the potential workshop participants by the end of June.
3. Workshop registration: the selected applicants will receive a notification by the IBUS Office asking to re-confirm their commitment to attend this workshop.
Important information
Limited places available; applications from the Asia Pacific region will be given priority.
Applications with equal qualifications will be evaluated on a first come first served basis. Only fully completed applications will be taken into consideration.
It is a mandatory requirement to have access to an ultrasound machine in order to apply for this workshop.
