Workshop description

The 20th IBUS Hybrid Module 1 Workshop will take place on November 6th - 7th at the ASGE Institute for Training and Technology (IT&T) in Downers Grove, Illinois, USA.

This IBUS workshop has been developed by a group of international experts in IBD and intestinal ultrasound (IUS). Participants will learn about the basics of intestinal ultrasound (IUS) and the role of IUS in diagnosis, follow-up of treatment, and complications in IBD.

The workshop consist in 2 parts:

  • Theoretical and didactic training: participants will engage in an interactive, self-directed eLearning course via IBUS
  • Practical training: the hands-on experience component will be facilitated through an introductory face-to-face course involving sessions with patients
Interested applicants may apply either for the full in-person workshop (theoretical and didactic training + practical training) or exclisively for the didactic training. To receive the IBUS Module 1 certificate, completion of both the theoretical and practical training is required.

Benefits of participating in didactic-only learning:

Even without hands-on practice, you can still gain:

  • Core principles and frameworks
  • Clinical/technical decision-making logic
  • Rationale behind techniques
  • Best practices, common pitfalls, and safety considerations

If you are still deciding if IBUS certification is right for you or the hands-on option is sold out, the didactic-only option allows a low cost option to still earn CME, ask questions, network with peers and experts in the field, participate in case discussions and debrief while observing the overall experience.

The workshop will be organized in collaboration with  the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) under the medical lead of Dr Bincy Abraham from Houston Methodist Hospital.
