IBUS Ambassadors
IBUS ambassadors serve as supporting members for committees and ad-hoc projects within IBUS. Their responsibilities will be determined by the committee members and project leads based on association priorities and project demands.
Below you can find out more about who is eligible as well as the responsibilities and benefits of the position.
Who is eligible?
Individuals eligible to serve as committee ambassadors must meet one of the following criteria:
- Committee members who have completed their term and wish to continue supporting the association
- Association members who have demonstrated a strong interest in joining a committee
- Members who have actively contributed to association initiatives and have been identified as potential ambassadors by the IBUS Operational Board
What are the roles and responsibilities?
1. Advocacy and Representation
- Act as ambassadors for the association, promoting its mission and initiatives
- Engage with members and external stakeholders to increase awareness of association activities
- Support recruitment efforts for new association members and Module 2 training centres
- Serve as a bridge between their local GI/IBD society and IBUS
- Represent the association at events, conferences, and networking opportunities
2. Research and Educational Support
- If asked, participate in research grant review processes by providing evaluations and feedback
- Contribute insights and recommendations on educational and research initiatives
- Promote committee-sponsored educational programs and initiatives
- Encourage participation in association educational activities, webinars, and learning opportunities
- Assist in identifying emerging trends and areas of focus for the committee
What are the Terms and Commitments?
Candidates must:
- be IBUS member in good standing
- Serve a defined term of three years
- Commit to active participation and responsiveness to committee or project needs
- Undergo periodic evaluations or check-ins to ensure continued alignment with committee objectives
- Assist in identifying emerging trends and areas of focus for the committee

Do I receive a certificate for my IBUS Ambassador contribution?
Yes. At the end of your Ambassador term you will receive a certificate
What if I am interested in becoming an Ambassador but don't meet the requirements?
Please email us at [email protected] for more information
Can I still apply for a committee in the future if I am an Ambassador?
Yes. If elected, you will simply end your term as an Ambassador early.
IBUS Honorary Members
An Honorary Member is a person who has made an exceptional contribution to IBUS that has had a substantive impact on IBUS’s development and the achievement of its mission and objectives.
Honorary membership is conferred to express IBUS’ wish to honour this person for their contribution. Only individuals can be nominated as Honorary Members.
Candidates for Honorary Membership may be proposed to the Governing Board by a member of the Association. Honorary Membership will be decided by the General Assembly at the general meeting following the proposal.
