Course description
The First IBUS Level 2 & Train-The-Trainer Course will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on December 2nd, 2025.
This course is for clinicians with 2-10 years of IUS Experience located at an IBUS training centre, for those considering becoming one, or those who wish to perform IUS research at any level. We will build upon the foundations of the basic course by diving deeper into skills essential for advancing the practice of IUS, including a focus on acquiring scans for research/clinical trials and preparing you to become a central reader.
The workshop will be organized under the medical lead of Dr Rune Wilkens from Bispebjerg Hospital, Denmark and Dr Federica Furfaro from San Raffaele, Italy.
This Level 2 course is a face-to-face event focused on supervision and being supervised in a safe, constructive environment. This unique format combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. The course will be interactive as well as theoretical and will level up your skills in advanced topics, including mentorship and high-quality data acquisition.
To maximize your learning, you are expected to complete 2-3 hours of preparation work before the event and a full day of post-course work after the event, including an online follow-up session.
- Mandatory Tutoring Session: As a certified Level 2 practitioner, you will gain essential teaching experience by completing a mandatory 1-hour tutoring session at one of the following hands-on sessions of the IBUS Nordic Regional Workshop Module 1 (December 3-5). You will receive valuable feedback on your tutoring performance.
- Networking and Learning: You are welcome to attend the Module 1 lectures on all days and participate in networking activities with fellow faculty and participants. Food will be provided for you on the days you are tutoring.
- Mandatory Practical Test: A practical test is required for certification as a Level 2 practitioner, ensuring a high standard of competence.
All participation and passing the test is mandatory for becoming a certified IBUS Level 2 practitioner. The unique element of this course will be the combination of theory, levelling up knowledge & skills, supervised tutoring, and giving and receiving high-quality feedback in a safe environment.
Application Process
Join us for this inaugural course on December 2, 2025, which will precede the IBUS Nordic Regional Workshop Module 1. Future IBUS workshop leaders will receive priority for course enrollment.
The application process is divided into the following 3 steps:
1. Submission of application: To be taken into consideration for the application process, fully completed applications must be submitted by October 26th, 2025.
2. Review and selection: The Workshop Steering Committee will review all applications and select the potential workshop participants by end of October 2025.
3. Registration to the course: The course registration will be completed after receiving the participation fee payment. Please note that invoices and payment collection will be managed by the local organisers.
Course fees:
- Standard Course Participation Fee: 500 €
- IBUS Member Participation Fee: 400 €
- IBD Fellows + IBUS Member Participation Fee: 300 €

Please note that travel and accommodation arrangements for all days, including the tutoring days, are not included in the fee and are at your own cost. During registration, you will be asked to indicate your availability for the mandatory tutoring session on December 3rd, 4th, or 5th to facilitate planning.
