Workshop description
The International Bowel Ultrasound Group e.V. is planning the 3rd IBUSXP – Masterclass and certification for the experienced IUS performer in Guangzhou, China, under the medical lead of Prof. Xiang Gao from The Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.
The primary aim of this workshop is to establish standardized, high-quality techniques for performing IUS examination among physicians with minimum 300 performed procedures over the last 3 years.
The workshop consists of 2 parts:
- Theoretical and didactic training: participants will engage in an interactive, self-directed eLearning course via IBUS
- Practical training: the hands-on experience component will be facilitated through an introductory face-to-face course involving sessions with patients
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will undergo theoretical and practical exams. Those who successfully pass the course will receive an IBUS Level 1 Certificate (no further Module 2 or 3 required).
Application process
The application process is divided into the following 3 steps:
1. Submission of application: To be taken into consideration for the application process, fully completed applications must be submitted by Thursday, June 4th, 2026. Applicants must submit together with their CV, a Letter of Recommendation from their Head of Department. During the application process, applicants will be prompted to confirm their commitment to completing the eLearning course before attending the hands-on part (this is a mandatory prerequisite for attending the workshop).
2. Review and selection: The review of applications and selection of participants will be conducted by mid-June, 2026.
3. Workshop registration: The selected applicants will receive a notification by the IBUS Office asking them to reconfirm their commitment to attend this workshop.

There is no cost to attend this workshop, and selected participants will receive free access to the eLearning course, but a cancellation fee of 100 EUR will apply for late cancellations.
Please note that travel and accommodation arrangements are not included in the participation fee.
It is a mandatory requirement to have a minimum of 300 performed procedures over the last 3 years and to have access to an ultrasound machine to apply for this workshop.
IBD experts from China will be given priority in the review process.
Applications with equal qualifications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis. Only fully completed applications will be taken into consideration.
